The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is one of the most prestigious and competitive defence exams in India. Cracking it in the first attempt is a dream many chase but few achieve. The key lies not in luck but in strategy, discipline, and expert guidance.

What is the NDA Exam?
Conducted by UPSC twice a year, the NDA exam selects candidates for Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force wings. After qualifying the written test, candidates face the SSB interview, medical exam, and join NDA Khadakwasla for training.
Eligibility
- Qualification: 12th pass (Physics &Maths for Navy/Air Force)
- Age: 16.5 to 19.5 years
- Gender: Male (female entry currently only via other routes)
NDA Written Exam Pattern
Paper | Subject | Marks | Duration |
Paper I | Mathematics | 300 | 2.5 Hours |
Paper II | GAT (English + GK) | 600 | 2.5 Hours |
Total | 900 |
SSB Interview: 900 marks
Final selection is based on written + SSB performance.
Subject-Wise Syllabus & Strategy
Mathematics (300 Marks)
- Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Geometry, Statistics
- Tip: Practice NCERT + RS Aggarwal + previous year papers
- Strategy: Focus on formulas + speed drills + time management
General Ability Test (600 Marks)
English (200 Marks)
- Grammar, Comprehension, Vocabulary
- Strategy: Read The Hindu, editorial analysis, and Wren & Martin
General Knowledge (400 Marks)
- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Polity, Geography, Current Affairs
- Strategy: Revise 9th–12th NCERTs, daily current affairs, weekly quizzes
